SDMV EngineSound Privacy Policy

Effective date: 22 October 2026 (updated for usage statistics)

SDMV EngineSound plays a live engine sound for your electric motorcycle. This policy explains what the app does with your data.

The short version

The app has no account, no advertising and no tracking. We do not sell or share data about you. To improve the app, recent versions count how it is used with Google Analytics, without any advertising identifier and without your location or speed (see "Usage statistics" below).

Location

While the engine sound plays in RIDE mode, the app uses your phone's location to read your speed, so the engine sound follows how fast you ride. This happens only on your phone. The app does not store your location and does not send it anywhere. The app asks for location access while in use, not for background location; it keeps reading your speed while the engine sound plays, also with the screen off. You can turn location off at any time in your phone's settings. REV mode works without it.

Purchases

SDMV EngineSound Pro is a one-time in-app purchase. Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) handles the payment under their own privacy policies. The app only asks the store whether you own Pro; it never sees your payment details. On Android, this check is the app's only internet connection; it goes to Google Play.

Usage statistics (Google Analytics)

From iOS build 11 and Android build 9 onwards (the build number is shown in the app under About), the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how it is used, so we can see which engines and features riders like. It records events such as: which engine was chosen, switching between RIDE and REV, the speaker preset, starting and pausing the sound, previews of Pro engines and the Pro offer being shown, Pro purchases and restores, and how long a ride lasted. Each install gets a random app-instance ID; Google derives an approximate region (country or city level) from a shortened IP address.

The app never sends your GPS location, your speed or your route. It does not use the advertising ID (IDFA on iPhone, the Android advertising ID), does not ask to track you, and does not link these statistics to your name, email or any account. The data is encrypted in transit, processed by Google on our behalf under the Google Privacy Policy, kept for 14 months and not used for advertising. To have the statistics of your install deleted, write to us at the address below. Earlier versions do not collect usage statistics.

Settings on your phone

The app saves a few settings on your phone: the engine you chose, the volume, the speaker preset, your bike's top speed, whether you accepted the safety notice, whether you own Pro, and how many rides you have taken (so a one-time thank-you message is shown only once). They stay on your phone. If your phone's system backup is on, these settings may be included in your own backup, under your own account. We cannot see or access these backups.

Children

The app is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal data from children; the usage statistics above are anonymous and not linked to anyone's identity.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
